Four bad bus accidents last week

...And speaking of bad transit mojo, there were four awful bus accidents last week:

  • Mon, 9/8: A 74-year-old woman was killed by a bus at Broad and Oregon.
  • Mon, 9/8: A man in a wheelchair was sent to the hospital after being hit by a 47 bus at 8th & Girard.
  • Thurs, 9/11: A two-year old is in critical condition after being hit by a 52 at Cedar and 52nd St.
  • Sat, 9/13: A drunk driver plows into a 21 bus at 51st and Chestnut.
Be careful out there, folks.

PS.  And then this from last night:

A fire in a Philadelphia subway tunnel caused massive rush hour headaches and PATCO service delays Monday.

Officials say sparks from a PATCO train ignited a series of fires on railroad ties, just where the trains go underground on the Philadelphia side. The train stopped and fire fighters got those fires under control but the train could not be moved.

About 50 passengers on board were stuck in the tunnel for an hour and a half.
